Chemical Free Cleaning

There has become an increasing interest in the market to explore chemical free cleaning, biodegradability, green scene etc.

This is somewhat of an enigma to a cleanser supply company particularly because this is where we make our money that ultimately provides wages for staff etc.

So why should The Cleaners Warehouse want to promote "Chemical Free Cleaning"?

Good question-The reality is there is no such thing as chemical free cleaning, everything in life is a chemical, the cotton cloth is a chemical, salt, vingar, lemon oil all products promoted as chemical free are in there own right chemicals.

Many so called environmental comentators recommend kitchen ingredients to make your own cleanser. They are of course very correct. Many of the ingredients in your cooking cupboard are extensively used in the manufacture of cleansers. Unfortunately individually they do not constitute a cleanser, white vinegar on it's own does not clean but incorporated with a wetting (detergent) agent it can be a great cleanser. Bleach (or sodium hypochlorite) does not clean but incorporate it with a compatible detergent and you have the basis of Domestos or our Extreme and then it does clean. However you have to be careful you cannot add dishwash (or almost any other cleanser) to bleach. it is dangerous and gives off a harmful gas. Most of the market looks for and or accepts technological advances. We could all be clean and green and leave the car in the garage and use a horse to get to work but it would not meet our efficency expectations, so do not accept that white vinegar or other promoted green products will clean as well or as fast.

Some comentators fail to recognise that even some very common products in everyday use have complex chemical descriptions, but when it comes to describing cleanser components they are quick to point to chemical descriptions as being nasty. In general terms, all of the chemicals used in cleanser manufacture in New Zealand are highly biodegradable. You just need to ensure that if a manufacturer claims biodegraability that they can prove it with qualified certification. A new range released by Jasol conform to the Australian Environment Choice latest standards. Click here for further information.

However having said all above there is a position in the market for chemical free (or chemical limitation) cleaning.

The Cleaners Warehouse has adopted a policy to wherever possible to promote education on safe use of cleanser, limitaion or prevention of overuse and the promotion of Microfibre for cleaning.

A large proportion of chemical polution is because of overuse of products particularly when a dilution rate is decscribed as 1 part to 40 parts water (who has got the measuring jug and do we always use it) Some unique methods are now being used to assist with controlling dilution rates. For example a popular supermarket Spray Cleanser such as Mr Muscle is sold retail for $3.63 per 500ml Sprayer.

You can make your own Spray n Wipe from our Citrus Cleaner Concentrate 1000ml pack which has it's own unique dispensing system and labelled Spray bottle for just $1.38 for a 500ml Sprayer. Click here for further details

Thats a huge savings and really does control over use. Our Citrus Cleaners concentrate is based on natural citrus fruit extracts. Just to frighten you this extract is called dL-Limonene or a natural turpentine.

Many Hotel and Institutions already use auto dilution systems and we now have a Diversey range of concentrates where you just press the plunger to get the correct quantity for a bucket of cleanser or the correct quantity for a spray bottle. Whilst the initial purchase cost seems relatively high, the actual in-use cost is very low. Click here to view the Diversey information We will be listing these products shortly and will update this page accordingly.

NOW HOW ABOUT TRUE CHEMICAL FREE CLEANING
(Sorry you still have to use water and that's a chemical)

Many, many cleaning application in and around the home and commercial market can be cleaned without the use of cleansers with the applications and use of good quality microfibre. NOT just any Microfibre, you need to look at the quality range, such as our MYTEE Microfibre. Click here to go to our MYTEE Microfibre range of cloths and floor cleaning.

The cleaning revolution that was developed in Europe, marketed in England, Canada, USA and Australia has now arrived in New Zealand.
You can now clean without the use of HARSH CLEANING CHEMICALS.
There are many microfibre cloth manufacturers but be careful, generally if it's cheap then it is not quality microfibre. The Cleaners Warehouse source the MYTEE Microfibre from one of the original manufacturers who base their technology on the the original Swedish technology.

The MYTEE Microfibre cloth is manufactured with a unique blend of very fine polyester and polyamide fibres, so fine 1 square centimetre contains over 30 kilometres of microfibre.

The fibres are woven in a unique pattern to form a maze of scoops which pick up and hold the dirt without smearing it across the surface like conventional cloths.

The MYTEE Microfibre Cloths can be laundered in a conventional wash many dozens of times without affecting the cleaning power. Do not however use fabric softeners and restrict the use of bleach.

This technology has been incorporated in cloths and in particular floor mops.

HOW DO WE CLEAN OUR FLOORS?

Historically we have used either a sponge mop or a cotton mop. (Some still get down on their hands and knees to srcub the floor)

You now do not have to get a bucket, fill it with water, carefully add the correct quanity of cleanser, slop it on the floor and push the cleaning solution around, then have to carefully get it (the dirty water and cleanser) back into the bucket.!!

You can now mop your floor with no buckets, no surplus water, no cleansers and leave your floor clean streak free and no smears. Click here for further information on the MYTEE Microfibre Mop
